Message from your
tour host
Dear Fellow Rotarian Please take this as your
personal invitation to join us in a Group Tour of Turkey, including the Gallipoli
Commemorations in April and May next year. There will be just twenty of
us including partners who will explore exotic Istanbul, visiting the famed
Bazaar, and Spice Markets. Be astounded at the
splendour of the Ottoman Palaces and their treasures. Be ready with
your camera as we marvel at the Blue Mosque with its minarets pointing
like so many lean forefingers into the clear sky. Join me as we stand in awe
of the stunning architecture of the ancient Greco-Roman Empire. Our
Hosts, the cordial Fellows of the GOKSU Rotary Club shall host us at their
Club Meeting - with makeup's available! Oh, and can you imagine dining in the
Pera Palas Hotel of Orient Express fame, favourite of luminaries such
as Agatha Christie, and the notorious spy Cicero? Then we shall proceed in
(Mitsubishi Princess coach) down the peninsula to Gallipoli with
cheery Rotarians from our Hosts the GOKSU Rotary Club. Early next morning we
shall assemble at ANZAC Cove, where we shall participate in the Gallipoli
Commemorations in the company of Rotarians from Turkey Clubs. Yes, we
shall hear the trumpet sound as the sun rises over ANZAC Cove for the Dawn
Service. Then we shall progress to the Lone Pine memorial, and
maybe participate in the New Zealand services. Proceeding across the
famed waterway known as the Bosphorus - scene of battles for thousands
of years - we leave Europe and arrive in Asia. Travelling by luxury coach and
with skilled professional guides, we shall explore famed cities of the
ancient world, including Ephesus, Troy, beautiful Izmir,
Ankara, gorgeous Anatolia and astonishing Cappadocia. So will you join us as we
follow in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, Saint Paul, Marco
Polo, Suleiman the Magnificent and Kemal Mustafa Ataturk? Oh, and yes, we shall
cruise in our own motor yacht on the blue Mediterranean along the coast of
Antalya This is our fourth visit
to Turkey with its amazing blend of the ancient and modern. We look forward
to sharing these exotic experiences with you and your partner. I, and my good
friend Banu Yalcin of the Goksu RC, will be your Hosts.
